It is possible to punish Trump.

The US is the most advanced nation on earth.

We can figure out how to punish him.

The American justice system does not want to do so.

The US is most advanced country in the history of the world.
We probably spend a couple of trillion dollars on our military and criminal justice systems.

If we truly wanted one old man to pick up trash on the side of the road, we could make it happen
without harming a hair on his head.

We happily keep telling ourselves one lie after another to prevent us from demanding justice,
to stop gun violence, to treat women like human beings.

Sorry but I have to call out all of our learned helplessness.

And that isn't an option for Federal charges, anyway. Might Marchan decide to do something like that? Well, theoretically he could be sent upstate to a rural area in a collaborative trade-off and let him pick trash from a rural highway... I'm all in favor of that.

Yeah, we should ALL demand it, but regardless, the right judge could do what is right.

And/Or judges are on the PutinGOP payroll.

We see this over and over.

Judges will not protect women's rights.
Will not stop gun violence.

They do not work for the American people.

The three liberal judges on SCOTUS are also subject to their conservative a'hole majority overruling them. Does this mean they would NOT take a principled stance if they WERE able to prevail?

We live in a democracy.

We vote for our leaders.

Americans vote for leaders who refuse to take action to prevent the cold blooded murder
of schoolchildren while they sit in school.

Leaders who make women second class citizens and send them to die for the sin of
being pregnant.

Leaders who allow other psychopathic leaders get away with horrendous crimes.

Corrupt judges pretend all of this is what the founding fathers intended or is
the morally right course of action. Or the judges are too afraid to do the right thing.

All of this talk about how complicated things are, and so difficult, are pure lies
and nonsense.

If Americans truly wanted things to change they could do it fairly quickly.
We stopped the war in Viet Nam.
We achieved rights for women and POC.

We can do it again but we refuse to do so.
We will not lift a finger to stop our children from being murdered in cold
blood with military grade weapons. We have failed as adults.

I refuse to buy the learned helplessness lies we tell ourselves.

The truth is we don't want to make the changes because we think it is too hard.
We won't even try.

(or Kagan, Sotomayer, Jackson) supposed to do?

We are aghast at MAGAT plans (2025) to demolish the entire constitution and government. Are we to do similarly with the Federal judiciary? (And I am ALL FOR doing so with SCOTUS by adding justices, term limits, applicable prosecutions/impeachment, and real ethics reforms/consequences, but I'm asking how far we go. )

Stop voting for psychopaths who sell out our country and murder our citizens.

Protest, strikes, picket lines, civil disobedience.

Most species will die to protect their offspring.
Americans won't lift a finger.

I refuse to pretend there is nothing we can do.

Six year old American schoolchildren shot to ribbons with military grade weapons
changed my world view.

I refuse to buy the lies we tell ourselves to excuse our refusal to take action.
It is all nonsense to soothe our guilty consciences.

Pressuring a Democratic House, Senate, and President while likewise educating the hell out of the populace--especially the non-voting populace would be a start.

Again I vehemently disagree with you.

Until American adults start acting like responsible people, and take clear action to stop
the murder of our children, nothing with change.

We have had all three branches of government and nothing changed.

I believe these are all lies we keep telling ourselves to make us feel better
about our total irresponsibility.

We have failed our children in the most grievous ways possible.

This is the truth and the rest of the world knows it.

of American school children." No one. You are better than this.

We all start with the same goal but struggle with HOW to accomplish it. I have offered some thoughts on that. You have not, but only answered me with accusations as though we did NOT share the same goals, horrors, and frustrations.

I'm going to end this. Have a good evening, Irish_Dem

It wasn’t one of his houses. We could get him a 2 or 3 bedroom brick house in the middle of nowhere ( Maybe West Virginia, Idaho or Montana.) Put a fence around it. No cable TV. No internet. He gets one bedroom, his SS gets the other. His food gets delivered from the grocery store and he has to cook it himself and do his own laundry.

is a slap in the face to the rest of us.

Anyone else who had stolen so many classified docs and given them to our
enemies would be sitting in a Supermax prison w/ 24/7 solitary confinement.

Yes of course they insult our intelligence by saying Trump cannot be imprisoned.

The US Bureau of Prisons, US military, and SS can certainly guard one old man in
some sort of prison setting.

I like your idea quite a bit.

The truth is that no American judge is brave enough to do the right thing.
