Related: About this forumLet's talk about Trump ending the Kennedy Center.... - Belle of the Ranch
Well, howdy there Internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about the Kennedy Center closure, Trump's name, and the 250th anniversary.
If you watch the Roads with Belle, this bit of news won't really be surprising at all. For weeks, in each weekly news roundup on Sunday, we've talked about the Kennedy Center losing act after act and key personnel fleeing. In short, ever since Trump graffitied his name on the side of the building, the Kennedy Center has been falling apart faster than a Trump trade deal.
Most recently, we covered how the Kennedy Center was able to get a new person over artistic programming, who quit within two weeks, which is funny in a way. About 3 weeks ago, Trump posted about the Kennedy Center by saying, "A year ago, it was in a state of financial and physical collapse. Wait until you see it a year from now. Like our country itself, it will rise from the ashes.
Closed. It will be closed a year from now. According to a new announcement from Trump, the Kennedy Center will quote cease entertainment operations for an approximately 2-year period of time with a scheduled grand reopening that will rival and surpass anything that has taken place with respect to such a facility before. Therefore, the Trump Kennedy Center will close on July 4th, 2026 in honor of the 250th anniversary of our country, whereupon we will simultaneously begin construction of the new and spectacular entertainment complex.
Just a quick fact check, the Kennedy Center's name originates due to an act of Congress. Kennedy Center trustee and Democratic Representative Joyce Beatty of Ohio said, "Once again, Donald Trump has acted with total disregard for Congress."
She added that since the Kennedy Center is congressionally funded, Congress should have been consulted about a decision to suspend its operations for years. Instead of the Kennedy Center being open during the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the center will be closed.
Trump says it's for renovations, but the speculation is that Trump slapping his name on the side of the building made it toxic to performers. Rather than admit that even an event as big as a 250th anniversary celebration couldn't lure performers to the stage, he closed it.
In his post 3 weeks ago, he framed the Kennedy Center as being in ashes. It wasn't. It had consistent bookings and guests. Now it has nothing and won't for approximately 2 years. And in that post, Trump promised a parallel between the Kennedy Center's future and the countrys.
In another post in October, Trump promised the Kennedy Center would remain open. "We are remaining fully open during construction, renovation, and beautification. I am doing the same thing to the United States of America, but only on a slightly larger scale.
Most people seem to believe the Kennedy Center was doing fine until Trump manufactured a problem, pretended to have a solution, overpromised, then the whole thing collapsed, limiting opportunities for Americans. I guess it's up to you to decide if he's doing the same thing to the United States, only on a slightly larger scale.
Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.

I just wonder if they'll open the doors to he movers and shakers who descend upon DC for the "season,": throwing fancy dress parties thinly disguised as charity functions where they can show off to each other before proceeding to the next enclave for the next "season." It's either that or Fatso had better slap his knockoff Hermitage ballroom in record time to accommodate them.
