Related: About this forumThe truth about tariffs & how they work - Velshi - MSNBC
One piece of Donald Trumps economic plan is to impose sweeping tariffs on other countries, particularly China. Tariffs are neither inherently good nor inherently bad. They are a tool which, when used strategically, can remedy trade imbalances, protect certain domestic industries, or influence other countries to improve their trade, wage or human rights practices.
But its the American companies that pay tariffs. And those companies end up passing that "tax" onto the consumer in the form of higher prices. So the American consumer ends up footing the bill for tariffs. - Aired on 11/17/2024.

(222,072 posts)3. That is exactly what TFG, who boasted about implementing tariffs, doesn't understand. You'd think someone would correct him
But maybe they don't want to get on his "wrong side," which apparently doesn't take much. And given that the guy went bankrupt six times, it's hardly a surprise that he doesn't understand finances. Exactly who you want in charge of the world's largest economy.
