Senate GOP 'sees no path' for Matt Gaetz's confirmation - Way Too Early - MSNBC

Senior congressional reporter Andrew Desiderio joins Way Too Early to discuss Jon Thune’s new role as GOP Senate leader and his challenge in balancing traditional conservatism with Trump’s agenda. Desiderio notes that Thune faces tensions over Trump’s controversial cabinet picks, such as Matt Gaetz for attorney general, with many Senate Republicans actively pushing Trump to reconsider the nomination. - Aired on 11/14/2024.

Any misconduct occurred while he was a sitting member of Congress. So his resigning conveniently makes those revelations and potential consequences simply "go away"?

But I'd think that any misconduct by a sitting member of Congress would be essential to get on the record. And I did read that the report could still be released if a majority of the House Ethics Committee agreed to - but that would require a yes vote from at least one of the 5 Republicans on the 10-member Committee.

If they detest him so much and wish him to go away once and for all, why not let the chips fall as they may? His victim(s) would deserve no less than that.

I've listened to Liz Cheney's book, have it on disc, and she gives details of all that happened before, during and after January 6th. And because she chose "country over party" - her oath to the Constitution rather than "loyalty" to TFG - he's still attacking and threatening her today.
