Alexander Vindman: The U.S. Will "Decide the Fate of the World" on Nov. 5th - Amanpour and Company PBS

Another former Soviet republic has made a move to break free of Moscow’s control. Moldova has voted in favor of joining the European Union, in a referendum which was much closer than expected. President Maia Sandu is blaming foreign interests for undermining the democratic process, with Russian influence a longstanding concern in Moldova.

Russian President Putin personally intervened to block Ukraine’s vote for a closer association with the E.U. back in 2013. This set off a decade of invasion, occupation, and war. U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, in Kyiv today, announced a half billion in new military aid for Ukraine.

Retired Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman, former Director for European Affairs on the U.S. National Security Council, also testified during Trump's second impeachment. Vindman speaks with Walter Isaacson. - Originally aired on October 21, 2024
