and I wish her the peace that one can only hope the next realm might bring.

(For the moment, I chose to forget about her son who has truly disgraced her example)

and not in that snotty "noblesse oblige" sort of way. I never saw her getting stuffy with anyone, even on her own with a bunch of kids in tow and might have been on her last nerve..

No, I didn't know any of that family, just saw them out and about from time to time. It's why tourists who asked directions to the compund would find themselves at the sewage treatment plant.

It was a kindness, the extended Kennedy family weren't the only rich and famous people to summer there and security was ferocious, the tourists would never have botten close enough to see the roof line or be able to distinguish it from all the others and would have been loudly discouraged from returning.

So RIP, Ethel Kennedy. You've earned it.

I just hope she was beyond knowing what an amadan her eldest son had turned himself into.
