1. Not specific to this, but for any aspiring Gen Z/X weather reporters...

If you wish to describe the amounts of rain/storm surge these Florida coastal areas have received AND retain even a modicum of credibility, terms like "ridiculous amounts," "sick amounts" or "crazy amounts" are really not the way you want to get your point across. 99% of those listening will think of one descriptor for you "INANE!" And yes, I may be cranky this morning but I have heard young earnest reporters in the field say all three this morning. I think my eyes may lock up from the unconscious eye rolls.

So, I'll just leave them here.

I would be remiss if I did not offer our youngsters some alternatives: "record amounts," "destructive amounts," "deadly amounts (where it applies), "excessive amounts," and "horrific amounts." But, "sick, ridiculous, crazy?" Good gawd.
