Republican candidate caught telling women over 50 that abortion rights is 'not an issue for you' - Rachel Maddow - MSNBC

Republican Senate candidate for Ohio, Bernie Moreno, who is running against popular Democratic incumbent Sherrod Brown, was caught on camera at a campaign stop making the argument that "a lot of suburban women" are single issue voters who only care about abortion rights, and that women who take that position are crazy, especially women over the age of 50, for whom, he argues, reproductive rights are not an issue. - Aired on 09/23/2024.

First of all a woman at fifty can still reproduce. And unlike you she actually cares about ALL women and their rights over their own bodies. FU, we are not crazy. JHC!

What a POS he is.

Yep. I was 54 around the time my ovaries decided to give up the ghost. More importantly, the compassion part of my brain still functions.

I'm straight, White and non-fertile, and I still care about the LGBTQ+ Community, Civil Rights and Reproductive Rights. Isn't it wacky that someone can care about an issue that isn't going to directly impact their quality of life?

To quote Wallace Shawn in The Princess Bride, "Inconceivable!"

I mean really, like if we are straight we would have no concern for gay rights? I care about the well being of children and I have none.

None of us live in a bubble as TFG and his minions apparently do.

I am a 56 year old child free by choice female who luckily never had to avail myself of an abortion. But I vote for my entire gender and for the nine year old girl I used to be when my parents took me on a trip to Washington DC in 1977 and I first learned what autonomy was, seeing a group of women protesting to " keep abortion safe and legal, defend the right to choose." Fifty years later I can still hear the chants in my head and see the black and white photo they held in protest, of a woman lying facedown, dead on a towel, having bled out from a self induced abortion. Even then it was not the thought of an abortion that appalled me, but the thought of a woman being forced to carry a child she did not want , a child that she did not want so desperately she was willing to risk her own life in such a manner that I found beyond reprehensible. I wish we could reframe the issue of abortion as autonomy for all. I vote for the unborn women yet to be, that they live their lives free from reproductive slavery. Because one woman is all women.

It’s not that I care because I don’t want it to happen to me, I care because it shouldn’t happen to anybody. This is the difference in our parties, I think. They don’t understand things that happen outside their own lives
