Velshi: Citizenship is a muscle that weakens if you don't use it - Velshi - MSNBC

Citizenship Day is observed on September 17th every year. It’s a day to honor those who have made the conscious choice to become an American citizen; to assert America's values as a nation built on immigrants. Many overcome much adversity to become a U.S. citizen – all for the hope of achieving the American dream.

That dream isn't necessarily always a lofty one. Many immigrants dream of simply finding a job, having a roof over their head, becoming part of a safe and secure community and enjoying the freedoms afforded to Americans by the constitution. The real American dream isn't what happens to the immigrant who becomes a citizen, but rather what happens to this country when immigrants choose to become citizens. - Aired on 09/22/2024.

Ali Velshi has been there, speaks well and, having traveled the world, from experience. Likely my favorite and most important speech of the day.
