It was about back to school shopping. A mother asked her young daughter what kind of shoes she wanted. The daughter said she didn’t want shoes that lit up when she walked because it would make her easier to see for a school shooter. Thanks republicans.

3. This has become a very real for kids in school - and school hasn't even started yet here in New York.

My cousin has a daughter who is still severely traumatized just by the shooting drills she's experienced in school - she is afraid to go anywhere alone. And this is in Colorado where Columbine took place. My cousin's friend got a deal on a house several years ago because it's located right across the street from Columbine High School.

2. NRA just supplied another slaughter of children!

In its extremist Mandate for Leadership, dubbed “Project 2025: Presidential Transition Project,” the far-right Heritage Foundation has outlined an extreme policy vision to put power—and profits—back in the hands of the corporate gun lobby at the expense of public safety. Among other radical proposals, this agenda calls for undermining the effectiveness of federal law enforcement and replacing experts tasked with protecting the American people with far-right loyalists who don’t know how to keep our communities safe. In May 2024, Project 2025 had a booth at the annual National Rifle Association (NRA) convention, demonstrating its architects’ commitment to prioritizing guns over people.

Guns are now the leading cause of death for children.
