"The West Wing" Stars Martin Sheen & Melissa Fitzgerald on the Show's Legacy - Amanpour and Company PBS

Much has been made of DNC 2024's effort to recapture the spirit of Obama's 2008 campaign. But for real political fantasia one must time-travel back to Aaron Sorkin's series "The West Wing," which hit the airwaves in 1999 and seduced viewers with its famous walk and talks, fast-paced scripts and soaring political optimism.

A new book now takes us behind the scenes of the hit series: "What’s Next: A Backstage Pass to 'The West Wing,' Its Cast and Crew, and Its Enduring Legacy of Service." Joining the program is one of the book’s authors, "The West Wing" alumna Melissa Fitzgerald, as well as "President Bartlet" himself: award-winning actor Martin Sheen. - Originally aired on August 21, 2024.
