Maya Harris speaks at 2024 Democratic National Convention - 2024 DNC Night 4 - PBS NewsHour

Maya Harris, sister of Vice President Kamala Harris, spoke Thursday on the final night of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, an evening focused on the future as Kamala Harris formally accepts her party’s nomination for president.

Maya Harris told the story of how her mother immigrated to the U.S. and raised her two daughters, expecting great things of them.
“Like so many Americans, Kamala knows what it's like to be underestimated and be counted out. She knows what it's like to be the underdog and yet still beat the odds,” Maya said. “And now she has created so much electricity, so much optimism, so much joy throughout the nation and it is why we need her leadership in this historic moment.”

Kamala Harris’ speech is her first official chance to offer her vision for the country to voters. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz formally accepted the vice presidential nomination the day before. - Aired on 08/22/2024.
