Former Israeli Peace Negotiator Daniel Levy: U.S. Is Part of "Axis of Zionist Extremism"

The United States, Qatar and Egypt are urging Israel and Hamas to hold a new round of negotiations to finalize a ceasefire deal in Gaza. However, Hamas is urging mediators to enforce the ceasefire terms proposed by President Biden in May that Hamas already agreed to and that Israel rejected. Daniel Levy, president of the U.S./Middle East Project and a former Israeli peace negotiator under Prime Ministers Ehud Barak and Yitzhak Rabin, says U.S.-led efforts for a ceasefire are likely to fail as long as the Biden administration remains unwilling to pressure Israel. "It's quite clear Netanyahu does not want a ceasefire deal," says Levy, who adds that the Washington playbook of unlimited support for Israel and threats to keep other regional actors in line could pull the U.S. into a wider Middle East war. "America is playing the role as a member of the axis of Zionist extremism."

3. DN have been Hamas apologists since Oct 7. They rationalized and justified the massacre on that day, and

denied that the rapes and torture actually happened

I can hardly wait tell they have Jill Stein on like they did in 2016 against Hillary

5. I'll answer that question, it's bullshit. Daniel Levy is not an extremist. DN on the other hand

is an extremist outlet, and being independent doesn’t change that fact.

"Levy is critical of Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands, labeling such treatment "nondemocracy." He has criticized Israeli political leaders' "pursu[it of] a Jewish ethnocratic state at the expense of a Jewish democratic state."[25]

Regarding his motivations in creating J Street, in 2009, he told The Guardian:

"What we had a hunch about, and was proven when J Street was launched, is that there is this very large constituency of Jewish Americans who do care about Israel and who are cool identifying themselves as pro-Israel. But their pro-Israelness is about the need for Israel to be at peace with its neighbours to gain security, not by being an ongoing expansionist presence. In fact, that endangers Israel."[26]

Levy has publicly expressed concern about the "abuse" and weaponization of antisemitism in the context of public discourse about Palestinian and Israeli politics.[27]

He expressed criticism of the Israeli government's actions during the 2023 Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, underscoring "the unconscionable and growing cost in civilian life" and the lack of a coherent political vision related to Israel's ongoing military actions.[24] He also simultaneously called for a renewal of Palestinian leadership to be more "inclusive," pointing to the need to incorporate Hamas into the Palestinian Authority.[24]"

7. The U.S. believes that Israel has the right to exist, and supports a two state solution. Hamas

does not believe Israel and Jews have the right to exist.

Levy's position that the U.S. is an extremist nation because it supports Israel's right to exist is wrong and flawed.

What kind of pressure does he suggest? Stop weapons shipments to Israel so Hezbolah, Iran, Syria, etc. can eliminate Israel? No thank-you.

Hamas also refuses to take part in any further ceasefire and release of hostage talks for and event that they started.
