Related: About this forumVelshi Banned Book Club: 'All the Light We Cannot See' by Anthony Doerr - Velshi - MSNBC
Set in World War II Europe, Anthony Doerrs Pulitzer prize-winning All the Light We Cannot See grapples with what becomes of morality, of legacy, of human connection, and of fate when confronted with the shattering brutalities of war. Doerrs lyrical, writing style propels the story forward, allowing the reader to slip into blind Marie-Laures.
Despite the praise, the awards, and the fierce loyalty of its readers, the novel is regularly removed from classrooms and libraries across the country and was not permitted as reading material for a 12th grade English class in the Glendale District School in Cambria County, Pennsylvania, putting the book banning epidemic in critical context. - Aired on 08/10/2024.

OP
Agreed, it's gotten insane. Some of the books we were assigned in AP English are on the banned list as well...

(33,942 posts)1. That this book is regularly banned from high schools is criminal.
I highly recommend it.

Ali Velshi does such a great job recommending the books we all should read.
