James Zogby, former executive member of the Democratic National Committee, says an open convention is “what democracy needs from our party right now.” Meanwhile, Black Voters Matter co-founder LaTosha Brown says an open convention is a risk that would cause “chaos” within the Democratic Party. “This is a moment that we have to defeat Trump,” says Brown.

This question is a no-brainer. The last thing we need right now is to have anything that stands in the way of Kamala becoming our candidate. That should happen almost immediately too within the next few days or so. If she is not the candidate we will lose this fucking election. And if you say, why is that ? Cause what do you think Black people are going to do? Along with others of us who are many, who are not racist people, we understand the insult to people of color.

The first question every black person is going to say so let me see it was OK for Kamala to be a vice president but now when Joe stepped down, she’s not good enough to become the candidate because she’s black. That is exactly the reaction you’re gonna get and we’ll lose this election . So in my opinion, don’t even think about it. Get on board and get behind Kamala.
