OHare was a nightmare. The screens listing gates were blank, and the gate for my flight changed as frequently as the departure time.

(3,216 posts)Overall, not much of a cost to me in the long run. And it looks like I'll get to my destination (Addis Ababa), albeit at the end of a 13-hour flight.
(In fact, the most depressing part of it has been the amount of MAGA shit for sale at Dulles.)
My wife and daughter also flew yesterday, but to a different (and much closer) destination. They lost a few hours with my wife's family, but managed to get where they were going.
This sort of thing shouldn't actually be, like, a thing. There should be some sort of backup system that can be used in cases like this. I'm amazed airlines and hospitals didn't already have them in place - software upgrades are often bumpy affairs.

(3,569 posts)Yesterday I posted my grandsons Texas dmv appointment was canceled. My granddaughters friend was stuck overseas. But later learned where my daughter works at was also affected.
