(15,440 posts)The feel good movement is over for me in regards to the man who prompted an insurrection and came close to a Coup and openly states he wants to be a dictator. My opinion of all Trump enablers is even lower. Hitler was terrible everyday Nazis were worse.

(217,657 posts)I can't believe that a convicted felon who continues to lie about the 2020 election results, attempted to overthrow the government and continues to attempt to incite more violence is actually allowed to run for public office again - let alone to lead the country.

When the bullets fly from some unknown direction, it's every person for themselves as a crowd is too easy a target - just duck for cover!
Say, while I'm here . . . who has the copyright on the Constitution?
Could they be asked to kind of update that second amendment, seeing it is out of date by a few centuries and causing so much trouble?
Thanks in advance!
But I agree with Joe.
Gun violence is never the answer. But thoughts and prayers won't cut it, not this time, never did, never will.

(217,657 posts)Is something going to be done now that this shooting threatened one of their "own?" I wouldn't bet on it. When Steve Scalise was shot at a Congressional baseball practice and ended up in critical condition, what happened then?? He inexplicably STILL speaks in support of "gun rights."

(6,018 posts)Australia, 1996.
"The Port Arthur massacre was a mass shooting that occurred on 28 April 1996 at Port Arthur, a tourist town in the Australian state of Tasmania. The perpetrator, Martin Bryant, killed 35 people and wounded 23 others, the deadliest massacre in modern Australian history. The attack led to fundamental changes in Australia's gun laws."
Note the phrases ' the deadliest massacre in modern Australian history' and 'the attack led to fundamental changes in Australia's gun laws.'
35 deaths and higher - probably common on a weekend in any big American city.
"Over the extended Fourth of July weekend, 109 people were shot in Chicago, with 19 fatalities. The city experienced 74 shooting incidents, including three mass shootings, from Wednesday to Sunday."
And still crickets?
America is good at identifying enemies and threats abroad and tackling some of them, but turns a blind eye to the enemy within. (aka nutter with a gun.)
. . . don't bother to tell me I'm wasting my breath, I already know.
