Mobile view needs some TLC?

[I posted this in another thread but wanted to surface it.]

TBH, while I like the colors and it’s clear the layout is trying to be way more modern, I’m not in love with the mobile view. The current DU is so much more responsive and respectful of real estate on a phone. On some DU 4 pages, the forum chrome takes up about 3/5 of the screen. The tabs are enormous, for example. My phone is an iPhone 13 Pro Max and I always use the Safari browser. For comparison, the layout on an iPad is much, much better and less busy. Much more attractive and inviting.

I hope this feedback helps. I suspect I’m not in a minority of people who consume DU on a phone, especially among working people who grab a quick look-see on a lunch break. I hope the mobile experience doesn’t go from good and simple to demonstrably worse.

I am also using an iPhone 13 Pro. The display formatting is very clunky in almost every facet. The vertical spacing is excessive to the point of being uncomfortable to read. Everything seems to waste display real estate. For example, the current reply has the following problems, among others:

o The floating title consumes of 20% of screen
o The fonts for headings are way too big
o The text formatting items should be on a pop up
o The smilies prompt should be on that same pop up
o Lots of similar things with almost every feature

I know how tedious getting look and feel correct. But it's worth the effort.

BTW my screen is larger than average. Cannot imagine using this on the smaller screens.
