Related: About this forumLiking it! But I do miss the contiguous display of Latest Videos on the Home page
In fact, the Home page looks a little disorganized to me. I get the three boxes across the top for Pic of the Moment, Trending, and Greatest. Then underneath them "Left Column" on the (duh!) left, and LBN on the right. But the middle column seems to be a mash-up of list-y things with a single video between each list-y thing.
Would it be possible to group all the videos together either above all the list-y things or below them, so I'd know where to navigate to see all of them together, without having to scroll past the list-y things?
Or... just possibly... make them a "feed" option in place of all the stuff I unchecked because I don't want it on my Home page? There's a nice big blank spot there now, and it would be wonderful to be able to pick the content that's interesting/useful to me there.

(22,540 posts)Initially there were no videos on the page at all (cuz I wanted people to use the new Latest Videos page), but that way, I ended up with just these lists of links that all kind of ran into one another. I wanted to break that up somehow. Then I thought, well I could bring back those videos I removed from the page, and use them to do that. I thought it added some visual interest to the page by adding images, and that by breaking up the lists of links it made them more readable.
But, this being a beta test, I'm open to changes so this gives me something to think about.
As for the feed thing, I'm not sure I understand the question... I think you want to put content in the left sidebar somehow, but what kind of content? FWIW, I am definitely open to adding additional types of Feed sidebar notifications if people come up with good ones.

(20,987 posts)Because those I like to keep on the "My Subscriptions" page and only look at it now and then, UNLIKE the recently added videos which I like to track from the Home page, but if that's not a "thing" for now, maybe the way to manage it is to unsubscribe to all the forums I'm subscribed to, and JUST subscribe to "latest videos" or whatever that's called, and then re-check the Subscription options and I'll see all the videos there on the leftmost sidebar?
Of course, then I'd lose all my other subscriptions and I do like to track those occasionally as well. What to do, what to do...
New designs mean HARD choices!

(22,540 posts)Which you can reach from Navigate > Latest Videos
It's not something you can subscribe to -- it's a top-level page like the Latest or Greatest page. It lists every OP which contains a video from any forum on the site. They're listed newest at the top, like the Latest page. You can filter them (for example, if you don't want to see non-political videos) using the bar at the top of the page.

(20,987 posts)It requires extra clicks to go to a different page. Fooey.
I keep the Home Page open on my browser bar alla time, it's like my "main" DU interface. I like to have the stuff I impulse-click on THERE, the Home Page. Stuff I impulse-click includes LBN, Videos, and occasionally Trending or Greatest posts. Also, of course, replies to my own posts. Everything else is just noise on the page, for me, so I turn it off or try to train myself not to see it. (BTW, when I impulse-click it's ALWAYS "open in a new browser tab" so that the Home Page tab stays open, as my "anchor". I just close whatever I impulse-clicked and I'm back there.)
I probably would also add latest or most-recommended posts in the Editorials and Articles forum on the Home Page if I had that as an option, because it functions almost as a "Long Reads" category, which I like to access when I'm at work eating lunch at my desk and looking for interesting reading matter rather than discussions. I know "Long Reads" has never been a thing here, but I have learned to love it on other sites and E&A is the closest thing we got.
wistfully,

(22,540 posts)Above each of the four videos inserted on the home page, there's a subheader bar that says "Latest Videos" -- that's a link to the Latest Videos page. Right-click it and select "open in a new browser tab" and you'll be there.
