(22,550 posts)We're not using those any more. There are four main screen layouts for different device sizes: mobile (phones), tablet, laptop, and desktop. You'll get the appropriate layout depending on which device you use.

(22,550 posts)I just made a tweak to the code. Try visiting a thread, but then turning your phone horizontally. Do the usernames show up?

(36,500 posts)On main page of forum like GD you get thread subject line and number of replies only. No name of poster.
I made another tweak... try holding your phone horizontally and looking at a forum. The usernames should now appear.

(22,550 posts)This right here is one of the cool things about DU4 that a lot of people aren't considering at the moment. It was very important to me to create something which is flexible and has the potential to be tweaked easily. The thing about DU3 is that yes, everyone is used to it -- but if someone had a request for a quality-of-life improvement, it was almost impossible because the code was so old and busted that even making small tweaks was a huge pain in the ass.
But now, in situations like this, where you point out that you used to be able to see people's usernames on your phone, but now you can't -- in a couple of minutes I can have a solution.
Now to be fair, obviously it won't always be that easy, and of course I can't promise that I can make everyone's dreams come true and give everyone the exact features they are looking for in exactly the right places on DU4. But still, this new software should make it much easier to provide quality-of-life upgrades, and even whole new features which we couldn't provide before.
There are still a lot of creases to be ironed out, but I hope that down the road, the value of this update will become apparent.
