Intermitent vanishing of rec button after a OP is rec'd.

Happened once in a while in DU3. For the first time I just happened in DU4

1. What device is this on?

Also are you using the default DU4 mode or did you switch to one of the other modes? Does the button disappear and never come back? Does it come back after a page reload? Does the count still display -- is it just the button that goes away, or the count as well?

Interesting that you've experienced this on DU3, that does indicate that it's something not necessarily DU4-related but more of a general bug.

Devise- Good Laptop (win 7)
Mode- Dark
Button and quantity of recs both vanish. Next time it happens I will check for page reload.
Probably happened no more than 5 or 6 times in DU3 in the past month or so.
Only the once on DU4

ETA: Upon reload the rec button and quantity of recs did return in DU3.

3. I had it happen to me just now.

I was actually looking for this because it had happened pretty consistently for me. If I go back to the page, it’s there again, but the rec didn’t take.

IPad, iOS 16.6, Safari browser, Skinner mode.

It would be helpful if I can see what the page looks like when the button disappears, it might give me a clue.

And when you reload the button comes back, but the rec is definitely not being counted?

Correct, the rec is definitely not counted. I’ve rec’d this post several times and the count is still at 0.

I tried it on an Opera browser, same iPad, and it does the same thing.

8. 4th Generation Air.

Know what? Lemme go downstairs and see what happens on my MacBook, just for goofs. And I’ll try my iPhone as well. Might even have a Windows computer I can try it on.

macOS Big Sur Version 11.6

Both browsers, Opera and Safari do the same thing.

Also, iPhone 11 Pro, iOS 16.6... same, both browsers.

I'll go find a Windows computer now.

Edit: Also happens when I switch back to default mode.

Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge browsers, same thing.

When you figure out what kind of gremlin it is and need all these machines/browsers checked again, I'll be glad to do it. Sort of feels like the Twilight Zone now because it's not at all intermittent for me.

11. EarlG, I just discovered something...

It happens in this forum and the Q&A forum very reliably. It didn't happen to me in the regular discussion forums, at least not yet. Maybe that means something?

I just posted my thoughts above but I've changed my mind... yeah, the problem is that the Rec button doesn't work in this forum or in the Questions & Answers forum, but we forgot to prevent the Rec button from displaying, so it's kinda broken.

If the problem is not happening in other forums, then it's not a bug -- well, it is, but it's more of an annoyance really. It's a known issue.
