Re: the tab features, including milestones...

This discussion thread was locked by EarlG (a host of the DU4 Bug Reports forum).

I see that if you want to make changes there, like, for instance, NO MILESTONES, you hit the drop-down menu and select. There is no save button, but if you hit the "GO" button it seems to save the selection. However, it also highlights the "reset" button which for me seemed like a logical button to hit as well, but it actually returns the selection to the default and cancels any previous changes.

While playing around with it makes clear that "go" is the save button and once you refresh the page after that your selection is saved, but the continued highlight of the reset button when first making the change will likely be confusing for others.

I don't know how many even change these selections from the default so it really may not be a bit deal, but just thought I'd comment on that.

The filter remembers some settings on some pages but not on others, so we need to get that consistent. As for the reset link, I think it's important to notify people that they have changed their view of the page from the default view. I've even had issues with this myself in the past -- I'd change the "Relevance" setting to "Political" instead of "All," and then come back later and be confused about where all the Lounge threads went before I remembered that I'd changed the setting. This issue is an even bigger problem on DU3 mobile, where the filter does not appear at all so it's easy to forget that you changed something.

So the way it SHOULD work is that the first time you change the filter, the "Showing custom selection" is bright red, so you're made aware that you changed something and you're not looking at the default view. If that's your intention though, and you want to keep it that way, on subsequent reloads the bright red background goes away -- but the text remains, so that you don't forget you changed the filter.
