Among 9 other candidates, Inslee gets his 6 minutes of fame
Washington Gov. Jay Inslee is a member of the 1% the Democratic candidates who have polled 1%, that is. But during his time on the national stage Wednesday night in Miami, he got in a few punches and about 6 minutes of time (5 minutes and 34 seconds or so, to be a little more precise).
Heres what he said to stand out from the chaotic cacophony of the first Democratic candidates debate. Approximate statement durations are in parentheses.
Shoutout to unions
On income inequality:
Well Im a little bit surprised, I think plans are great but Im a governor. And weve got to realize that the people who brought us the weekend, the unions, they are going to bring us a long-overdue raise in America. And Im proud of standing up for unions. Ive got a plan to reinvigorate collective bargaining so we can increase wages finally. Ive marched with the SEIU folks. It is not right that the CEO of McDonalds makes 2,100 times more than the people slinging hash at McDonalds. And the next thing Ill do is put people to work in the jobs of the present and the future. Lookit, Donald Trump is simply wrong. He says wind turbines cause cancer. We know they cause jobs. And we know that we can put millions of people to work in the clean-energy jobs of the future. Carpenters, IBEW members, Machinists, were doing it in my state today. And then we can do what America always does: Lead the world and invent the future and put people to work. Thats what were going to do. (1:02)

Trump
In a lightning round, the candidates were asked to name the biggest geopolitical threat to U.S. security. Pundits on MSNBC and CNN later called this possibly the best-received line of the night.
The biggest threat to the security of the United States is Donald Trump. (0:05)
