Warren 2020
Related: About this forumWarren is a decent person at a time when our politics are very, very indecent
Right now, the two most popular national politicians are Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump, and there's a clear connection between the two. Both are hyper combative. Both know how to stoke anger and attract angry followers. Both are unconcerned about building a coalition with anyone or any group. Both are absolutitsts.
Warren is a decent, caring, compassionate human being. She's the only candidate that can unite the moderates and progressives together. The fact that she's not doing better tells us more about us than about her.

(3,623 posts)I felt like Clinton and Sanders both had enough baggage that she could have won the primary. As we know, Clinton was pretty close to beating Trump in a general election. But I think Warren would not have lost states like Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.

Don't get me wrong. Warren has anger as well, but she channels her anger into smart, effective policy.

(3,623 posts)...would appeal a lot better to the voters that flipped from Obama to Trump in those midwestern states that I mentioned. Hillary had too much baggage in my opinion, WAY too much corporate influence on Hillary's career. Trump played that anti-Establishment angle very well with those voters. Warren has a strong track record on economic issues for the working class. When Trump attacked Clinton on stuff like NAFTA, that's an area that he would not be able to go after Warren.
