April 28 (Maryland)!

I just recently voted (absentee) in the MD Special Election for District 7, the seat formerly held by Elijah Cummings. I did not vote for the winner, Kweisi Mfume, but he actually held the seat before Cummings did and will likely represent us well.

I wish him all the best.

Mfume may have profited from the fact that, in this election, there were some very qualified AA women, among them Elijah's widow, Maya, who may have split the vote among them. In any event, I voted. Through MD's on-line tracking system, I was able to verify that my absentee ballot was received.

Note about Maya: she had actually presented herself as a Democratic candidate for the MD Gubernatorial Election in 2018, but withdrew her candidacy to concentrate on caring for her ailing husband.

MD is a good "Blue" state. Thank heavens!
