Elizabeth Warren has been flooding the zone lately, staking out positions that put her at odds with major players in a variety of industries -- from big tech to big agriculture -- as she fleshes out a presidential campaign defined by themes of consumer protection and stronger government oversight.

Now, she's taking aim at the credit bureaus.

Warren (D-Mass.) and Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) have released a report from a government watchdog looking at the security practices of the consumer credit reporting agencies, or CRAs, finding that their defenses are inadequate and calling for expanded government authority to police the sector.

Warren and Cummings commissioned the report as a follow-up to an earlier study that focused on the anatomy of the massive data breach at Equifax in 2017, which exposed the sensitive information of some 145 million people.
