In closing remarks at the PBS NewsHour/POLITICO Democratic Debate, Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., said that real change takes place from the bottom up, never from the top down. “For 45 years, Americans have been listening to great speeches, but the average American is not making a nickel more,” he said, adding, “Please join the political revolution. Let’s defeat Trump, let’s transform this country.” Sanders is one of seven Democrats vying for their party's presidential nomination in 2020 who met the increasingly challenging qualifications to be on the debate stage on Dec. 19, 2019.
