The campaign has recently hired Sheila Healy as labor outreach director and Jess Weldon as campus outreach director. The campaign has also promoted longtime Sanders supporter and veteran progressive and LGBT activist Mo Baxley from constituency director to deputy political director. Healy is a former vice president of the Vermont AFL-CIO, a veteran of former President Barack Obamas campaigns in 2008 and 2012 and a former executive director of the Arizona Democratic Party. She was field director for Sanders Senate reelection campaign and headed the Texas Democratic coordinated campaign in 2014. Weldon worked on the 2012 Obama campaign and comes to Sanders from the progressive political action committee Battleground Texas, where she served as the student voting initiative and training director.
Also, Michael Dewar has been named deputy operations director in New Hampshire. He most recently managed local and state representatives campaigns in Ohio. Tim Ryan is Sanders' New Hampshire campaign's new data director. His experience in data science and political organizing includes work as an organizer with the group Reclaim Chicago and as a data specialist with Davis Laboratories in Chicago.
They are joining the campaign as it is doubling its paid field staff. The campaign says that by Tuesday, it will have 50 people in that role. The moves come under the direction of the New Hampshire campaigns new manager, Shannon Jackson.
