And how sad to think of the children who were at the fighting edge of the battle over busing back in those turbulent days.

I hope everyone caught Biden's immediate reaction. His head whipped around to look at her, his mouth half open. He didn't see that coming.

I understand that Biden had to work with the Dixiescum. That is how the system is. You don't have to be nice when speaking about
those horrible animals (Eastland and Stennis).

about this, Anita Hill, and other issues.

People understand if you have evolved over many decades, but you have to concede that you were wrong from today's standards. He just won't give an inch, which leaves him speechless when pressed like he was at the debate.

was something like, "It was wrong, and obviously if I had to do it over again it would be very different. Saying it was done at a time when society was different is a reason, not an excuse. I'm sorry."

Kamala offered him another chance to say something like that. He didn't take it.

Don't get me wrong; I like Joe. Most people like Joe. But he screwed that one up.

And as an older person I can totally understand how a different set of societal and political circumstances can cause you to have completely different opinions than you do 20 or 40 years later.

Granted, some are just plain wrong, like any kind of racism, but even things like busing were not cut and dried back in the day. In retrospect we all know it was the painful first step toward integration. But at the time it was intensely unpopular. He should have been able to explain that he has evolved as times have changed, and that he would have made a different choice based on what he knows now.
