Turns Out the Philadelphia Inquirer Got It Wrong. Which Means So Did I.

Just read then heard on Chris Matthews' show that Charlottesville will not be Biden's kickoff venue. I'm disappointed by the change but also the Inquirer's reported admission that this was a 'rumor,' rather than a done deal. Also read that though the idea was discussed between Biden's advisors, there was pushback from activists in the state who felt the kickoff would be using Heather Heyer's death as a political football, somehow diminishing her death.

Really?

I thought just the opposite, thought the announcement would remind us all of that awful day and Donald Trump's incredibly callous response.

But then, these decisions are certainly above my pay grade.

So I guess we wait and find out Wednesday where the official announcement is made. Philly? Pittsburgh? Scranton?

Up for grabs now.

They are posting it over at the primary forum, but primarily as a vehicle to be critical of Biden. still_one Apr 2019 #1

However, if you read the right wing source being used, besides the disparaging remarks, they also mentioned he changed the venue out of respect for the communities concerns of launching a campaign where that tragedy occurred:

"Aides to Biden had briefed journalists about the plan for Wednesday, which liberal activist groups in Charlottesville told the Washington Examiner had prompted opposition, with some residents unhappy about the scene a tragedy the city would prefer to forget being used as a campaign launch backdrop. Personally, I think this presents Joe in a good light, because he is listening to the concerns of the community, and is sensitive to them.

The "Biden detractors", will be coming out of the wood work to criticize anything Joe does, whether it makes sense or not.

and if he takes a big lead in the polls after his announcement, I fully expect it to get very ugly

For that reason, I will probably be spending more time here when discussing the primaries.

It reminds me of the attacks used against Hillary, and prompted Rachel Maddow to make the comment at the time that if Hillary discovered the cure for cancer, they Hillary haters would come up with come reason to be critical of it.

Biden will handle this quite well. I remember his debates against Palin and Ryan. This is not new for him.

However, the attacks will get quite ugly

And should he be the nominee, i believe him to be quick witted enough to have a good comeback for the inevitable insults from trump in any debate. Or twitter tirade..

Deja vu in the air. I'm trying to stay out of the cat fights but . . . as the heat increases it becomes tough. I always knew Biden would have a target on his back. I've read multiple articles calling him Hillary Clinton 2.0. Personally, I don't consider that an insult but many on the far left consider that descriptor instant poison.

With regard to the change of venue, I could kick myself for not looking deeper into the source of the information. Because yes, this sort of disinformation isn't a coincidence and the story now is being played as an example of disorganization and/or a failure to commit.

Just listening to MSNBC. The new announcement is an official kickoff on Thursday with a video, followup rally at a union hall in Pittsburgh.

Sounds like we're a go!

He is listening and respecting people's feelings. Because some want to characterize it otherwise, I think that is because they are concerned that he'll be leading this parade.

If Joe wins the nomination and presidency, as far as I am concerned, I would love it if he had an open door policy for both Hillary and Obama as part of his administration. A few heads might explode I think
