Biden 2020
Related: About this forumWhy Warren can not win the presidency...................
First: I love Sanders and Warren but for a Democrat to win they need a motivated African-American voters. Last week I saw on MSNBC a poll showing VP Biden has 49% support from the Black voter. Warren and Sanders had 13% and the others less than that. The motivation is just is not there. When Biden is the nominee and Obama comes out for him that will provide the motivation needed.
Second a Democrat needs Independent voters support. Sanders has said he is a Socialist. Warrens policies (I like them), will be easy to show as Socialist.
The Independent voter thinks Biden is liberal but don't believe he is Socialist.
Too many Independent voters will hold their nose and vote for Trump. They do not want a Socialist president.
What we are seeing is liberals (LIKE ME) picking the more liberal candidates. The general election will be for all.
That is why we must nominate Biden. The only thing that matters is beating Trump. I hope Harris is VP. Let her reverse all things Trump.

(11,472 posts)Biden will win in the GE; Sanders and Warren will not. Without a win and full repudiation of Trump and Trumpism, the country will lose everything. No policy position will matter.
Right now Warren is on an upswing but her positioning on healthcare is a clear Achille's heel. Medicare 4 All is popular on the left but not across the country. She has taken Bernie's position in the one policy that all polls point to as the 'most' important to voters. If she continues with the Bernie plan, the position will be an anchor around her neck and campaign. If she throws the policy overboard, opting for the vastly more popular public option, she will come off looking like a flip-flopper. Can't have it both ways and the questioning over M4A and necessary funding (taxes) will continue, not cease. Being evasive about the question will not work long-term. She's painted herself into a corner.
Joe Biden can provide the transition we need to repair the damage Trump and his enablers have wreaked, get us back on an even keel domestically and abroad and prepare the ground so we can move forward on the serious issues at hand.
Losing 2020 is not an option, not if we want a future for ourselves and children.

(5,111 posts)Will AA come out in droves and be willing to stand in line in the November rain to vote? I don't believe Warren can get there...Biden especially with Harris can motivate turnout. And sadly anti-Semitism and misogyny makes Sanders and Warren unlikely to win among Independents and even some Repugs. Just don't see it happening. Time to get real.

(154,120 posts)I and a number of real hardcore Democrats have been working hard to turn Texas blue. Right now, Texas will be a battleground state for the Presidential race if we nominate Biden or another moderate. In 2018, we flipped two Congressional seats from red to blue (Lizzie Fletcher and Colin Allred). Colin and Lizzie are being targeted by the GOP and we will have to work hard to defend these seats. I have already donated to Colin and will be donating to Lizzie
In addition the DCCC and the Texas state party have identified 6 additional congressional seats that could be flipped. I have donated to Sri Preston Kulkarni, Kim Olson and Wendy Davis. In addition, Texas Democrats picked up 12 seats in the Texas state house in 2018 and we need to flip 9 seats in the Texas state house to control the Texas house and the 2021 redistricting session.
If Warren is the nominee, I am convinced that Texas will not be a battleground state and it is clear that we will have trouble flipping any seats and may lose Lizzie's and Colin's seats. I doubt that we will be able to flip the Texas state house and will see some horrible redistricting.
