Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumIn theory, had Biden now been the unofficial nominee after everyone left
would it make sense for him to announce a running mate?
With all the ghoulish posts here about dying soon, it would make sense. No?
(No, not right wing propaganda, the threads still exist here)

(96,043 posts)At this point, in any case the Party should begin treating Mr. Biden as its nominee, Our Party should begin raising funds for him, and its leading figures should come out to endorse him, and commence openly campaign for him against this cheap thug Trump disfiguring our White House.
"From Bernies perspective, dropping out of a race once you have no chance of winning is peculiar behavior that can only be explained by the work of a hidden hand. For most politicians, though, it is actually standard operating procedure. Only Sanders seems to think the normal thing to do once voters have made clear they dont want to nominate you is to continue campaigning anyway."
"When things are not called by their right names, what is said cannot make sense. When what is said does not make sense, what is planned cannot succeed. When plans do not succeed, people become uneasy. When people are uneasy, punishments do not fit crimes. When punishments do not fit crimes, people cannot know where to put hand or foot."

The momentum ball would roll and we might be able to focus on something truly positive for a bit.

(1,402 posts)Me, too.......Joe Biden will pick the perfect time to announce his running mate. He has already said it would be a woman so what's the beef. Maybe now, during this crisis, is not a good time to announce. We just need to get through this somehow, someway.

With all that's happening in the world, you'd think there'd be so much heading smack for us now that the expectation of instant gratification would have turned into aversion therapy.

(67,782 posts)....especially on Twitter and other social media are obsessed with Biden's "health" (which is great for a 77 year old!), but never a word about Sanders, who is a year older and just five months from a heart attack and heart surgery.

(8,444 posts)1. Let the vetting continue
2. Nominees may have sudden health issues in themselves or family.
3. Don't let a single nominee take the burden of being in the campaign. Every Democratic politician and voter needs to do what they can.
4. Don't tip your hand to the ReThugs until Joe and the nominee are ready with ammo against ReThugs, Russian trolls and "independents."

(15,703 posts)He can't get endorsements, he can't appoint a veep, he can't speak for the party, because Bernie will take any opportunity to make a stink. He's mastered this game and played it to perfection since 1994.
