Bernie Sanders Taking Political Advantage of Coronavirus Pandemic -- To Help Trump

Independent Vermont Senator and Democratic presidential still-candidate Bernie Sanders has recently made it clear that he sees a political opportunity in the coronavirus pandemic, an opportunity that will do nothing but increase the chances that Donald Trump will be reelected.

Former Vice President Joe Biden absolutely crushed Sanders in the last several rounds of primaries, and currently holds a twenty-point national lead in polls. Biden could lose every remaining primary election by as many as six points and still come away with the majority of delegates required to win the nomination.

After Super Tuesday 2, it looked like Sanders might have been ready to wake up and smell the coffee. He went around saying he would “assess” his campaign and concentrate on the Covid-19 outbreak.

As time wore on, Sanders began to talk about how the pandemic had changed the campaign, and at first, it seemed like a play to agitate for his policies to be folded into Biden’s campaign to the degree possible. Biden began reaching out to Sanders’ supporters the night he scored those last decisive wins, and has already made several progressive adjustments to his policy proposals.

Not many are excited about Bernie. He spent 100 million to basically tie Mayor Pete in Iowa and NH. Nevada is not a good metric. It was a caucus where only 4% of registered voters voted. He's getting his clock cleaned pretty good. He did not even win one county in 5 states!

Actually, no more of this "as a" Democrat nonsense. The phrase "as a Democrat" clearly means that the comparison is being made with something that is NOT a Democrat. The candidate may be similar to a Democrat, but it's not actually Democrat, and therefore we cannot be assured that the best interests of the Democratic Party will be held in high regard by the "as a" Democrat contender.

I'm even suspicious of the "recently declared" Democrats who switch parties for one reason or another. I feel the same away about those politicians who believe it is in their current and immediate best interests to just-now make a party declaration of being a Democrat.

Therefore, I believe anyone who fancies a shot at becoming the Democratic presidential nominee must be a Democrat for at least ONE FULL election cycle--FOUR YEARS--before they can throw their hat into our ring and seek our party's nomination.

Being an "ally" isn't good enough. Having an 80% voting-with-Democrats record isn't good enough. Promising to "govern as" a Democrat isn't good enough.

Also, before someone chimes in and claims there are no party registrations in Vermont, that applies to VOTERS, not CANDIDATES. Patrick Leahy has been running for office in Vermont Since 1974, 46 years, each and every time as a Democrat! Here's his most recent staement of candidacy from 2017:

Sanders' method there is to run in the Democratic primary, and upon winning, decline the nomination to make his 'independent' run. They ought to find and field a candidate who can beat him, and press the issue, even at the risk of giving a Republican a shot in a three-way race. Better to grasp the nettle and get it over with....

12. Even if they can't find a viable candidate, they should do what Justice Democrats do....

....find some "progressive" schmoe and run it in the primary against an established (or should I say establishment?) Democrat already in office and hope to get lucky. In 2018 that succeeded once, while putting forward almost 80 losing candidates.

or COVID-19 takes out Biden. Someone in my social circle posted that they just donated to BS and that "anything can happen" because of the pandemic. They are in full on Eve Harrington mode. However, even under the most unthinkable scenario, Sanders still would not be the nominee.
