But the way so many here wish that Cuomo would be the candidate, or at least the V.P candidate, demonstrates why, traditionally, governors provided the pool for selecting presidents. Executives dealing with many topics and departments, budgets and competing interests, and making important decisions, often on the spot.

Many here lamented the disappearances of women candidates and of candidates of color.

I have lamented the disappearances of governors who never got much traction (there were four of them and, yes, Washington's Inslee is now very much needed in his state).

Yes, they are moderates. Did not excite "social media" with freebies and most did not have name recognition.

There will be a different DNC in 2028 and I hope that some of this year's lessons will be incorporated.

For the record, my first choice was Klobuchar, and the second was Montana governor Bullock. Third, of course, has been Biden and yes, I am sticking with him.

5. Thank you for this. The party needs to prioritize the expertise of Democratic governors.

I committed to Governor Inslee first, just for the reasons you give; to add, because he knows mind/skill/heart professional commitment, a trait of good governors. AND because he knew that climate crisis should be this nation's top manhattan project priority, in order to avert so many other crises.

If the Democratic Party is willing to learn, gubernatorial executives who come out of this era should be promoted, donated to and fought for, not treated like just another horse in the political stable before a national race.

Silently russianazi rethugs thank god they'll never find another Trump. Yet because of Trump they're more lost than ever about what constitutes good governance. Because all their current Senators -- and governors, too -- are tainted by submission to Trump's scummy stupidity, and so our party will stand out.

William Wells is a good Republican reminder to us that we should get out ahead of Republicans and, as soon as possible -- say, 2024 -- change the way we see our presidential candidates -- that we should value solid accomplishment, not looks, not entertainment value, and not whatever political pundit media drama tells us "sells."

6. Wel I started off with hope for Harris and Booker

But then I saw the numbers in South Carolina before and since the first debate and accepted this isn’t about me. This is about what the majority of the party wants to beat Trump. I stil rank Clyburn above Cuomo. He can be given an MVP award when all is said and done. Now on to victory.

7. Cuomo

was one of the first notable politicians to endorse Biden. He did so even before Biden had entered the race.

Cuomo is going to be a significant Biden surrogate during this election and I would be shocked if he doesn't have a prominent role in the administration.

He could end up as Chief of Staff or AG. Actually, if Harris were the VP pick I think he would be the clear front runner for AG.
