Poll: Biden has small lead over Trump in Michigan

Former Vice President Joe Biden holds a small lead over President Trump in a head-to-heard matchup in Michigan, according to a new poll released Thursday by the Market Research Group.

The poll showed that 44 percent of respondents surveyed favored Biden, compared to Trump, who garnered 41 percent support from participants.

The poll also showed incumbent Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.) ahead of his Republican opponent, John James, by seven points, 3 percentage points over the margin of error.

Just got my dogga daughter's mobile grooming in today. Today Friday, shutting down all non essential businesses. This one may change bc there's virtually no really close contact between us hoomans. Me, 'kooky wise acre lady bearing gifts' gave the groomer $$ payment, 2 rolls TP and four nice organic honeycrisp apples. 😆We shall see regarding the future. I can still bring her to our vet and have her done there. I just need to sit in the back seat with her and sumbuddy drive. Don't laugh. Last year for her annual checkup and immunizations, my priest came over and took us!😄 When I asked him, he said it'll be fun. Mommie self medicated before. Kidding! I still had my husband's car and we took it. They ended up buying it in December for the mrs. There is some kinda spiritual tie going on there. They miss my husband bad. He served our church community faithfully. Sprink, well she's easy breezy bohemian at times, when the spirit moves me. 😇

I pray you and yours keep healthy, and may resources to fill your needs be met. 💜

And now Cuomo has overtaken him as well. Again, another one who isn't even running. That makes it even more questionable why BS continues to remain in the race and it shows how futile all this is. This isn't about personal preferences, people are more inclined to put their money on the line for options that aren't even in the race because they see that as the better investment.

From Bernie’s perspective, dropping out of a race once you have no chance of winning is peculiar behavior that can only be explained by the work of a hidden hand. For most politicians, though, it is actually standard operating procedure. Only Sanders seems to think the normal thing to do once voters have made clear they don’t want to nominate you is to continue campaigning anyway.

From Mr. Chait at New York magazine:

https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2020/03/bernie-sanders-democratic-primary-joe-biden-2020-voters-establishment.html

"When things are not called by their right names, what is said cannot make sense. When what is said does not make sense, what is planned cannot succeed. When plans do not succeed, people become uneasy. When people are uneasy, punishments do not fit crimes. When punishments do not fit crimes, people cannot know where to put hand or foot."

I’m here in Michigan, and I can tell you there is no enthusiasm for Joe from a large portion of traditional Dems here.

It’s not that people dislike him- its that he just doesn’t have campaign electricity, enthusiasm or spark.

His VP pick needs to be someone that gets enthusiasm injected into the campaign, or else winning is going to be a real problem in November. Joe will have to get turnout, and that is going to take electricity.

maybe you're hanging out with the wrong crowd? Because the numbers belie your observations.

Turnout in MI in the 2016 Dem primary was well under 1.2 million. Hillary lost it to Bernie by about 1.5% yet went on to lose the state by less than a lousy 11,000 votes in the general election.

Turnout in the 2020 primary soared to almost 1.6 million...a whopping increase of roughly 1/3 more. Biden got 838,000 votes...more than 70% of what BOTH 2016 candidates got combined. And that doesn't even include another +100,000 votes cast early that went to other candidates who have endorsed Joe. And this was with Biden not campaigning in your great state until the eve of the election!

Sure seems to me that the data indicates more than enough enthusiasm to overcome the razor slim margin Trump won by in 2016. Maybe Michigan should worry less about electricity in Joe's campaign and more about getting the electricity turned back on in all their now-dark auto plants?

Did you see what Trump just said about their Governor? THIS oughta help Trump a lot in the great state of Michigan...

MI now allows absentee voting for anyone, whereas you previously had to have a valid reason. The number of absentee ballots was much higher from 2016 to 2020. So, I'm not sure if the surge is correctly attributed entirely to enthusiasm. Increased voting access played a major part.

All states should go to offering mail-in ballots as an option and push it hard. It's cheaper in the long run, less hassle for voters and makes it much easier for folks to participate in the democratic process.

Maybe that's one good thing that will come outta this virus bullshit since many states who have delayed their primaries are now being forced to go to it if they want their voice to be heard before the convention.
