Ann Arbor clerk responds to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's complaint about long voter lines

ANN ARBOR, MI – U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-New York, campaigned with Bernie Sanders in Ann Arbor just before the Michigan presidential primary last week.

In an interview on Fox News two days after Sanders lost the state to Joe Biden, the congresswoman complained about voter suppression, citing hours-long lines of University of Michigan students trying to vote in Ann Arbor as an example.

"I think one thing that isn’t being talked about is the rampant voter suppression in this country,” Ocasio-Cortez said in response to a question about why Biden was winning.

"Right there in Ann Arbor where we had that rally, those kids were waiting three hours in line to vote in Michigan.”

1. So apparently it's "voter suppression" when college students show up at 4PM on election day....

....to register!

They weren't waiting three hours to vote, they were waiting three hours to register. Throughout the state there were mostly minimal waits, including in Ann Arbor when people took the trouble to register before the last minute.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

that said, I wish she were my Rep.

Its a primary and I've worked them and it is very easy to miss the big picture over a fuzzy detail.

City Clerk Jackie Beaudry responded this week, saying it’s misleading to suggest there were three-hour waits at campus polling locations in Ann Arbor.

There were hardly any wait times in the city except at city hall to register and vote there, Beaudry said.

She acknowledged there were long lines of UM students trying to register and vote at city hall the day of and day before the election,
and there were two- to three-hour waits.

Here's an idea.. ..

Don't wait until the next to the last day or the last day to Register to Vote! They still got to vote, though.. right?..

Here's a Biden Supporter who waited what.. 7 hours!

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
