runs, but not so much for off year elections. Remember the 2010 elections, Obama described the turnout as a "shellacking". The wars are won in the trenches.

A vote that hasn't turned out and isn't turning out again is bad for Democrats?

I know Maddow made the claim, but it is equivalent to saying I never went out on a date with Angelina Jolie and she still won't go out with me!

We need to face reality, Angelina Jolie isn't going on a date with me and the youth vote can't be counted on to take us over the top.

On edit, and to be clear. This does not mean that Jameela Jamil won't go on a date with me. Gotta have hope!

Jameela, if you are a DU member, PM me, I am a bit too old for you, a bit too chunky, but you and I are destined to be together.

Maybe, with the right campaign outreach by Biden, they’ll come out to oust Trump. He’s not popular at all among the young. If they do show up, Trump will be toast.

This stuff does not change. Don't let Rachel Bitecofer or anyone else pretend otherwise. There is no such thing as magical turnout.

The 18-29 crowd is always in the 12-13% of the electorate in midterms and 18-19% of the electorate in presidential years. That's partially why Democrats do not have the midterm upside of Republicans. Even when we have a wave midterm landscape there aren't enough youth or single women showing up to push toward that type of +60 or +75 House seat net that Republicans are capable of during their own wave midterm.

You can assign 18 or 19% right now toward the 2020 youth turnout, in relation to total electorate. The name of our nominee means nothing. The day to day details mean nothing. That's what the percentage is going to be.

The overriding variable is preference.
