Fiscal Oversight Board Certifies PRASA Fiscal Plan

The executive director of the Financial Oversight and Management Board (FOB) Natalie Jaresko, announced on Wednesday, the certification of the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (PRASA) Fiscal Plan.

The plan, Jaresko mentioned, integrates operational efficiencies; the implementation of measures that achieve an increase in income during the period of the plan; and the maximum use of federal funds currently available to invest in reconstruction and improve damaged infrastructure.

“PRASA has achieved quantifiable progress with respect to the objectives of its Fiscal Plan, but it is still in a vulnerable position,” Jaresko said in a written statement.

“The full and timely implementation of critical fiscal reforms will lead PRASA towards a path of financial sustainability and bring it closer to its goal of becoming a self-sustaining, efficient and resilient utility for the benefit of all its customers,” she added.
