Conflict Of Interest Scandal Ensnares Puerto Rican Governor, His Brother
Governor Ricardo Rosselló denied last week that his brother, Jay Rosselló Nevares has any contract with the Department of Education
(DE).
“Mr. Jay Rosselló has no contract with either the Department of Education or any other agency of the government of Puerto Rico. He does not have it and he has never had it,” Rosselló said in a written statement.
Press reports indicate that the governor’s brother works in the Hogan, Marren, Babbo & Rose law firm, who in turn is a collaborator of the company Keleher y Asociados, former Secretary of Education Julia Keleher’s consulting firm. The governor did admit his brother
is a partner with Hogan, Marren, Babbo & Rose.
Reports also revealed the Chicago based law firm had obtained a $155,000 contract with the DE between December 2017 and June 2018, and that, according to the firm’s website, Jay Rosselló is identified as “an expert” in charter schools.
