(9,148 posts)As for 08, Obama did certainly surge ahead. I have clear reasons as to why this happened.
For one, Obama is superior in his skillful oration. He has personality & humor & would be a difficult match in debating any point.
And he came to the voting nation as an unkown, pretty much baggage free.
There were certain other factors in his favor, also.

(15,538 posts)I recall Hillary being up by double digits in the polls in MA around that time. All of MA's super delegates, Kennedy, Kerry, and Patrick all endorsed Senator Obama. Hillary won our primary decisively but still did get the support of our super d's at the convention. Then there was the Florida and Michigan primary fiasco and the divvied up votes.
The party has issues and I believe has lost the trust of a lot of dems.

I can tell you this, the party has far more support than the GOP. we don't have a tea party division.

To your second point, you might find a better discussion in GD. I saw your declaration that
I am not sure you give a care. If you do, then come aboard. but don't come in and slam the party. I don;t think you speak for the party.
I want to know what you are going to do to get Dems elected. I can't stand posts that take a shit on the party without offering solutions.
