'Former Governor Martin O'Malley lost a daughter or gained a son, depending on how you look at it, this Father's Day weekend. His daughter, Grace O'Malley, married J.D. Merrill in a ceremony of around 150 guests Saturday.
It was a very Baltimore wedding, said the Rev. Kevin OBrien, chaplain at Georgetown University, who presided over the ceremony. The couple was married at Baltimores Saint Ignatius Church on North Calvert Street in a Catholic ceremony that included elements from the Quaker tradition, such as a few minutes of silent prayer for the couple. The groom, John David Merrill, is Quaker. It was a beautiful ceremony, said OBrien.
The grooms parents are both former members of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. The brides mother is Judge Katie OMalley. "Katie and I could not be happier for Grace and J.D.," O'Malley said in a statement. "She has made us so very happy and proud as parents. And we are delighted to have such a fine young man become a part of our family."
The reception took place at the Baltimore Museum of Art, as we determined through some thorough Instagram stalking. There was something of a vintage-early 1900s theme, with votive candles in textured holders, and wedding flowers looked plucked from an English garden.
OMalley posted a pictured to Instagram Saturday of his daughter, who looked like a Swedish princess, with her tall new husband, J.D. Merrill, standing in the Bromo Seltzer tower.'>>>
