Martin O'Malley
Related: About this forumO'Malley just retired his campaign debt.
I want to thank everyone who contributed to my campaign for their generosity and tremendous support -- with a special thanks to my good friends in the House of Labor and the Maryland Congressional Delegation. Thanks to your involvement, we were able to run our campaign and quickly retire our small debt.
I also want to thank our amazing volunteers who gave so much of their time and energy to our cause. I'm looking forward to working with all of you to ensure that the Democrats keep the White House out of the hands of Donald Trump and that we take control of Congress and State Houses across the country.
None of this would have been possible without your generosity and friendship; I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Our country and our children's future are at stake and we need to hold strong to our progressive values and never stop fighting for what we believe in.
Look forward to seeing you soon,
Martin

(19,906 posts)1. I'm intrigued by the closing: "Look forward to seeing you soon"

(46,576 posts)2. I suspect that O'Malley knew he would lose to HRC and that his 2016 was a test run.
He'll probably get a job in HRC's administration and his plans/programs will become a blueprint for the party moving forward.

I look forward to seeing him bash Trump from every angle. Trump won't know what hit him.

(11,175 posts)9. That's impressive.
Often, those who dropped out along the way still have a campaign debt as of the convention. Sometimes the nominee helps retire defeated rivals' debts in the interest of party unity. Sometimes the debt lingers on even after the general election. O'Malley retired his debt before the convention and with no help from the eventual nominee. Well done!
