Martin O'Malley
Related: About this forum"Former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley dropped out of the Democratic race
after getting shellacked in the Iowa caucus. But apparently somebody in Florida likes him (or doesnt like Clinton and Sanders). OMalley collected 38,824 votes, or nearly 2.3 percent, Tuesday. That included 2,398 votes in Hillsborough County and 2,160 votes in Pinellas County."

(2,798 posts)He did get his name off the ballot in Maryland, which is unfortunate, since I was intending to vote for him even though he withdrew. I can't get enthusiastic about the other two, but I will vote for the eventual nominee in the general election.

Would be nice if he reactivated it. Things were much mellower when he was an active candidate.
He added a great deal of civility to the discussion, and he remained consistently focused on issues and proposals. I often return to his site to read his proposals, which should have gotten more attention during the campaign.

(135,861 posts)but not many smiles around here at the moment. TPTB are hard to 'best,' and likely won't win it anyway.
I'm fed up with politics. Waiting for some of 'my' basketball games.

(2,798 posts)What cheers me up about O'Malley is I know from his resume that he has no intention of retiring from politics at this stage in his life.
So I ask myself, what is he going to do next? Which direction will he take?
He is presently supporting Fetterman and working with voter education.
I do know that he will back whichever candidate becomes the Democratic nominee.
I don't think he wants the VP position, and I don't think either Clinton or Sanders would offer it to him.
So basketball and baseball look pretty good to me for now. But O'Malley is not going away.

(135,861 posts)just teams, and one of them is still alive!
Feeling sorry for my daughter and son in law, whose school was eliminated last night. I don't watch games of teams I support, due to concern that I jinx them (same for politics!)
