O'Malley takes on guns in Cedar Rapids.
Presidential candidates are making it clear where they stand on gun control.
On Saturday, former Maryland governor Martin O'Malley and his supporters braved the cold outside a gun show at Hawkeye Downs.
O'Malley says the majority of voters from both parties support background checks for gun buyers.
"It's the gridlock in Washington. It's the influence of the NRA and we need new leadership to step up. The answer to cancer is not more cancer. The answer to poverty isn't more poverty and the answer to gun violence is not more guns," said O'Malley.
Show managers invited O'Malley to come in and tour the gun show.
Vendors say since President Obama started promoting gun control, sales have skyrocketed.
They say buyers are required to have a permit to carry or purchase before a licensed gun vendor can sell them a gun.
Because of that, the president's new order wouldn't change much.
"What President Obama put out is a zero. It hasn't changed anything. I've been in contact with the ATF. They told me point blank that nothing has changed. And I'm getting that from the ATF," said Daryl Klein, president of Trade Show Productions.
President Obama says he won't campaign for any Democratic candidate who doesn't agree to support his decisions on gun control.'
