Martin O’Malley, Hillary Clinton Attend Central Iowa Democratic Fall Barbecue Fundraiser.
'After the three Democratic Presidential candidates debated on stage Saturday at Drake University, Hillary Clinton and Martin OMalley discussed their political differences in a more casual setting on Sunday.
The former Maryland governor, OMalley, and former secretary of state, Clinton, spoke inside of an agricultural showroom at Iowa State Sunday afternoon. It was a part of the Central Iowa Democratic Fall Barbecue Fundraiser.
Clinton echoed her stances on issues like health care, education and the economy from Saturdays debate. She also made clear how she would handle terrorist attacks
Attacking Paris, the city of light, reminds us that there is no middle ground in going after these terrorists, Clinton said. I will work every day as your president to a build a stronger, safer, fairer and more prosperous America. Because if we are not strong at home and taking care of our own people, we cannot do what we need to be doing to lead the world.
OMalley agrees the country needs to better protect itself from the people who live here. However, he says he would like to do it by strengthening gun legislation.
Imagine what sort of changes we would be making if since Sept. 11, 400,000 Americans had died here in the country at the hands of ISIL or Al Queda instead of the hands of one another, OMalley said. I have been consistent. I am clear about my principals and that`s what has allowed me to be an effective leader. After the slaughter of those kids in the classroom in Connecticut, we brought together our people in our state of Maryland and we passed comprehensive gun safety legislation with a ban on assault weapons and universal background checks .'
