O'Malley reminds of Vilsack.

'Democrats are fortunate to have three solid presidential candidates for the 2016 Iowa Caucuses. Hillary Clinton has senatorial and state department experience and a strong stance on human rights. Bernie Sanders has mayoral and senatorial experience and is an effective champion for middle class Americans. Martin O’Malley has district attorney, mayoral and gubernatorial experience and has actually done many of the things presidential candidates advocate.

I’m supporting Martin O’Malley in my precinct caucus. He left both Baltimore and the state of Maryland in better shape. Under O’Malley’s leadership, Maryland zoomed to number one in the nation in public education — the same position once held by Iowa. He dramatically reduced crime and unnecessary officer-involved shootings in Baltimore. He spent money during the Great Recession on public projects that made Maryland’s infrastructure more competitive.

But, most importantly, Martin O’Malley achieved sensible gun control. He did it with the cooperation of Republicans in the legislature and with the support of rural and western Marylanders. Martin O’Malley seems to favor the practical solution over ideology. He has the sensible approach to problems often seen in good governors. In that regard he reminds me of former governor Tom Vilsack.

I hope Iowans will consider Martin O’Malley’s success when they join a preference group at the Iowa Democratic caucuses on Feb. 1.'
