O'Malley on guns: Unapologetically unconstitutional

EDITORIAL

'Martin O’Malley is anchoring this week’s campaign swing through New Hampshire on gun control.

Good luck with that.

The former Democratic governor of Maryland is in a bidding war with Hillary Clinton to see who can propose the most sweeping restrictions on gun ownership and possession. O’Malley outlined his plan during a lengthy interview with the Union Leader on Tuesday.

O’Malley would ban “combat assault weapons,” a meaningless term by which liberals mean “scary looking guns.” He would require fingerprints for all gun purchases, presumably through a federal database. He would prohibit anyone under age 21 from possessing a handgun, taking away the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding adults for no reason.

He would prevent women dating men convicted of domestic violence from owning guns. He says this is a loophole that lets abusers get their hands on weapons, but would actually disarm potential victims.

Most irresponsibly, he pledges to direct the Department of Justice to stop defending federal law protecting gun manufacturers from frivolous lawsuits. This would go even further than the Obama Administration’s abuse of executive orders.

The gun control bill O’Malley spearheaded in Maryland is already on appeal in the 4th Circuit. O’Malley claims that his gun control agenda is constitutional, but he knows better. He doesn’t seem to care.'

and also critical for well-being of the country; O'Malley has the guts to run with it, as far as possible.

Aside from arguably being unconstitutional, is that they will do next to nothing to prevent murders and nothing to prevent suicides. They are for show to assuage certain controllers and I'm sure he knows it. There was a good post a day or two ago that pointed out that the only way to actually reduce gun violence it to confiscate/ban guns.
