O'Malley sending 200,000 Iowa households mailers!!!

Martin O'Malley's campaign will blanket 200,000 households through August's final weeks with two separate mailers meant to educate Iowa Democrats on the former Maryland governor's long-shot presidential candidacy.

The first two-page piece highlights promises O'Malley regularly talks about while campaigning in Iowa, including debt-free college, fighting climate change and working for a national $15 minimum wage. The second piece is a seven-page policy booklet on the former governor's 15 goals to rebuild the American dream, including ending childhood hunger by 2020, reducing gun deaths and moving congressional elections toward a publicly financed model.

The first piece began arriving in 130,000 Iowa mailboxes Aug. 18, according to Kristin Sosanie, the campaign's Iowa deputy state director. The policy book will hit another 70,000 houses starting Tuesday, she said.

The mailers come as O'Malley finishes his "Rebuild the American Dream" tour set to visit several Iowa cities through August. The tour kicked off with an Aug. 14 visit to the Iowa State Fair, and O'Malley returned last weekend for a two-day swing with stops in central and eastern Iowa.

O'Malley polls far behind rivals Hillary Clinton and liberal firebrand Sen. Bernie Sanders in Iowa, according to a Real Clear Politics average. But he leads the Democratic pack in both the number of days he's spent here, as well as the number of events he's held during the 2016 election cycle, according to The Des Moines Register's caucus candidate tracker.

The campaign on Monday announced that it would hold a "Day of Action" on Wednesday with volunteers hosting 30 house parties statewide starting at 7 p.m. O'Malley is expected to call in to the parties and speak with Iowans.

I continue to say the reason O'Malley is so low in polls is due to low name recognition. This should help alleviate that. He's also the only candidate talking policy specifics which will matter to Iowans.
