O'Malley swipes at Sanders in Iowa.

"I don't think it's a problem for the Democratic Party, but it might be a problem long-term for Sen. Sanders," O'Malley said when asked whether Sanders's self-declared socialism would be a problem.

Asked what he meant, O'Malley took another dig at the Vermont senator, suggesting that Sanders joined the Democratic Party just to run for president.

"I am a lifelong Democrat and I believe very deeply in the principles of our party. I believe very deeply in what Franklin Roosevelt was about, what John Kennedy was about, and that's why I choose to be a Democrat, not just in presidential years, but all the years of my life," O'Malley said.

was admittedly weak...but who and what got the headlines in the trolling media.

O'M is the lifelong member and supporter of the Democratic Party that IS the progressive alternative to life long Independent Sanders.

"O'Malley made the comments in a press gaggle with reporters hot off a fiery speech-turned-small rally here at the fair, where he drew the most enthused crowd of the day as supporters cheered loudly, waived O'Malley campaign signs and chanted the former governor's name.

O'Malley was the third and last presidential candidate to speak on the first day of the state fair, following Republican candidate Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas, and former Virginia Sen. Jim Webb, a Democrat."

that if Mr. O'Malley considered things for a moment, he might find Senator Sanders statements and actions through the years to be more in tune with FDR than many Democrats we have seen along the way. But, if labels are that important, then have at it......

Is in the long run his long political career as a "socialist" is going to be something that will be used against him by the republicans, if he were to win, and may also cause a lot of democrats who are turning out at his rallies to possible change their minds when it comes time to vote in the caucus's or the primaries. Some people, even those who support him now, are going to figure out that the label "socialist" will be used by republicans, and will hurt him if he did win the nomination.

Honestly I think even Bernie knows this. Time will tell, and if he does win the nomination will be voting for him in the general, just like I will do for any of the candidates who might win the nomination. I think all the "other candidate" supporters here on DU will vote for him also fi their candidate does not win the nomination.

...is why O'Malley is my candidate.

I feel as he does about being a lifelong democrat.

I certainly don't expect everyone else to feel the same way.

But, for me, O'Malley is the total presidential package.
