The libertarian news site, The Intercept and some DUers have charged that O'Malley is DLC

Despite their assertions, O'Malley was never a member or co-chair of the DLC. Here's a 2002 article on how O'Malley rejected membership in the DLC.

O'Malley said he was recruited to join the DLC soon after he was elected mayor three years ago. He said that although he enjoys debating strategy with the organization, he doesn't subscribe to all the positions of its leadership.

He said he made clear his differences in discussions that included leaders such as Sens. Joseph I. Lieberman of Connecticut and Evan Bayh of Indiana and focused on what the council calls the "battle over the soul of the Democratic Party."

O'Malley is neither an "old" nor a "new" Democrat. He's of a younger generation than the baby boomers who dominate the Democratic Party and founded the DLC. As his supporters often point out, O'Malley is a post-civil rights era Democrat who is not replaying the riots of 1968 in his mind and is not locked into the racial and ideological clashes of that period.

"O'Malley is very difficult to categorize," said Carol Arscott, an Annapolis-based pollster. "His opposition to the death penalty clearly doesn't fit into the DLC mold."

So he would be considered somewhere between Bernie and Hillary Clinton? O'Malley is my current second choice after Bernie.

The more I read about O'Malley, the more I like him.

2. I like O'Malley

He is my second choice too, for the current people in the race. I never thought he was DLC.

I don't like the fact his super-pac is already putting out negative ads, especially against Sanders, but I truly don't know what control he has over that. I do wish he would take a no negative ad pledge.

But he's a good dude.

Except for white collar criminal, Jeb Bush who is currently coordinating his super pacs under the guise of "not being a candidate yet."

I'd be glad when we can overturn Citizens Untied and get the big bucks out of politics.

It's amazing how many government officials say that they want a constitutional amendment that would overturn that horrid decision, yet the bill Senator Sanders introduced has gone nowhere.

4. I am amazed...

...at the number of hostile uninformed opinions about O'Malley and PACs in "Primaries."

He is not DLC. He is not bankrolled by billionaires. He did not and could not personally launch a "Generation Forward" super PAC assault on Sanders.

Being a pragmatist does not mean being a "centrist." It means promoting the common good without being bound to ideological labels.

We don't need ideological rigidity; we need problem-solving. Progressive values are a part of that process, but they are not the whole of it. Understanding actual conditions (reality) is a very important part of problem-solving.

I can't for the life of me understand viciousness and unwarranted accusations directed at a candidate who is presently low in the polls, mostly due to lack of name recognition.

Some people read what they want to read and hear what they want to hear. When confronted with counterargument, they just yell louder.

I have said it before, and I will say it again: O'Malley supporters on this board are classy and genuinely reflect the demeanor and behavior of their candidate.

And it is O'Malley's demeanor and behavior that led me to join DU in the first place.
